Entry #12
School Placement: Dan River high School
Cooperating Teacher: Patricia Moore
Grades/Subjects: 9-12th Health/PE/Drivers
Education
Date: September 24, 2014
First block started by reviewing the pronunciations of the
bones in the skeletal system. I then presented
a PowerPoint on the different types of joints in the body. In fourth block, I had the students choose a
traffic sign that best represented them.
They also had to go in front of the class and explain why they felt the
sign represented them. Afterwards, we
watched the video on signs, signals, and pavement markings. They were given a worksheet so that they
would pay attention and follow the movie.
In all of the PE classes, we played a game called Snowball Alley that is
another form of dodgeball. After school
we had a faculty meeting.
Reflection:
Yesterday my fourth block class was very talkative. I had to yell to get their attention. Today, they were very respectful and really
enjoyed the activity that was presented.
They had to choose a traffic sign that best represented themselves and
explain why. I had a few students that wanted
to choose “Slippery When Wet” but I did not allow them to do so. They kids were creative. After school, prior to our faculty meeting I
created a bulletin board that presented all of their drawings. In the staff meeting, I was introduced to
everyone and I received a warm welcome.
