Entry #10
School Placement: Dan River high School
Cooperating Teacher: Patricia Moore
Grades/Subjects: 9-12th Health/PE/Drivers
Education
Date: September 22, 2014
The first block class came into the gym efficiently, so we
went right into warm-up stretches and into our ultimate football game. Afterwards, the students got dressed and we
went into the classroom and reviewed our skeletal system lesson on
Thursday. I then had a PowerPoint
presentation for the class on the process of ossification and identifying
cartilage. In second block, I took my
students into the weight room and explained the proper form on a deadlift and
maxed out on the lift. During planning,
I worked on the quiz I was going to give out to my fourth block Drivers Ed
class on Tuesday. In fourth block, we
talked about traffic lights and all of the different types of pavement
markings.
Reflection:
In my fourth block today, I had two students that had their
head down during instruction. One of
them I told on Thursday to quit sleeping in class. That student, I had sit outside of the class
for a few moments in between slides and I spoke with him. In that same class I had a student complain
that one of the slides she couldn’t read because the font was small. During the presentation, I made the font
larger and the rest of the day went smoothly.
I had all students engaged in the PE activity. Students are really enjoying the activities
provided and I am proud to see that.
